For a period of time before his passing and then following, I edited a manuscript written by Dr. Charles E. Warren, tentatively titled Nature, Culture, Resources, and Human Being: Toward Attentive Societies. The work was essentially complete in concept, yet would benefit from some clarification, reorganization, and rewriting in parts. It also lacked a bibliography. Although the text cited last names and dates for references and quotations, it contained none of the sources. I matched existing hand-written notes to related pages in the original document. After this, I provided line item editing and tagged citations so that references could be tracked through a reorganization process. In developing the bibliography, I was given access to Dr. Warren’s library. I was able to verify specific citations by matching quoted text from referenced authors with that I was able to find in many of his books and papers; I also did library research to locate sources and complete the document to the degree then possible. The family asked that I return the files when the initial editing and bibliography were essentially complete. To my knowledge, the work is not yet published.
