For this project, the goal was to make two books that were out of print available to those who continued to contact the author for copies. Where the Huckleberries Grow is the first book chronologically; its sequel is Even Seagulls Cry.

During my early review of the text provided, I learned that the file the author had available was that of an early version of the manuscript she had first published. As such, I worked with the author to introduce missing sections and portions of sections as well as enter changes in the text that had been made as a result of research during her initial writing of the book. I then provided substantive editing, worked to clarify details about people and place, and incorporated updated and new information. I scanned and worked with images to ensure the best printing; prepared captions; created an extensive index; did the interior layout; and to the degree possible re-created the original cover with updated information. Prior to setting the work up online so that it could be ordered, I obtained a preassigned number from the Library of Congress for the author/self-publisher and prepared a brochure for marketing the book, which the author requested for printing in black and white.

The book is published as:

Title: Where the Huckleberries Grow

Author: Agnes Rands

Publisher: Linden Press. Eugene, Oregon.
